The New Year 2013.... The Newness Of The Same For Many.... The Chance Of A Lifetime For Others

   Bringing in the new year will have with it a demand for renewal of the old. In in many cases it is the refreshment of the old that is the currency our lives are spent on.

   Old ideas, given a face lift of sorts, are looked upon with fascination and acceptance. How often are the visions of the future, given by others, seen with the wisdom of elders as nothing extraordinary or original???

   There is value in the vision of hope and prosperity of the future. In the dawning of a new year this hope springs forth for more people than at any other time it seems.

   Being guarded against the shadows of old promises having been repackaged to seem new is paramount in maintaining perspective. The need for strength in integrity cannot be replaced or modified.

   A resolution for the new year is useful. Following it is where the integrity comes in. How valuable is the promise to those around us if the promise to ourselves is unable to see fruition???

   Most of us at one time required a "new beginning", and indeed at times, some of us more than once. The weight of proof is on us to assure that when given the chance, the new beginning is not wasted.

   Our adventure is there in front of us. The results of the adventure is in our ability to follow conviction without wavering and faith without yielding. Will we be able to live the life of fulfillment in the promises we've made???

    Yes. 

   Plunge into this new year with hope.
   Carry the promise to yourself with sincerity.
   Honor the promise to those around you with love.
   Fulfill the dream with the spirit of joy.

The Christmas story is one for Hope and Joy. This is the basis for the ability to demonstrate Christian faith.

Knowing the reason for the ultimate gift for mankind is most important.

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Those words hold the basis of our belief.

There is the Christmas story in a nutshell.

Gun Control.... Don't Be Stupid....

   There is an inherent evil in the killing of the innocents. Children in the least and adults as well. No amount of spiritual strength can prepare a person for this level of shock. The hearts of those affected have been forever changed.

   A society wallowing in the mire of decay will surely show this level of horror. And again, even with the shadow of this in the back of the mind, this type of violence is beyond comprehension.

   There will be cries of GUN CONTROL NOW!!!! This will be mantra now and this time the drive will be renewed with greater vigor. An outrage will feed the frenzy and the typical knee jerk reaction will take center stage.

   Those who hold to the rights of the individual as being endowed by our forefathers to own and maintain arms will have the challenge greater than any before. And yes, this right was given for a nation to be able to protect itself from invaders and even it's own government.

   So in a fundamental way, the banning of even assault rifles is not acceptable since a citizen should have the right to use a weapon close to that which could be used against him or her by a government, either foreign or domestic.

   And as it is, those very modern weapons that allow an individual to defend themselves are the ones being swept away first. An "assault rifle" does have only one practical use, to kill people. Even so there is still the right for this weapon to be owned by whoever would have one, legally.

   The mentality to be fought now is of those that want only the government to provide anything and everything for their existence  No amount of regulation is too much and no amount of interference is excessive.

   My position is that the current level of control has directly influenced the society and ability of those to kill. And that is by forcing legally armed citizens to not carry those things which invariably could protect them. 

   The issue is the identification of those that fit the profile of a mass murderer. And there is one. And in my opinion, were we not so busy or fractured in our daily lives to notice, people with an attitude or inclination toward mass violence can be seen.

   An individual with a desire to kill will do so. Admittedly a gun can spread the destruction, BUT that is from the lack of willpower to defend and maintain the right to actually bear arms. An armed society, such as in Israel, has few threats from those that would do random harm with guns.

   I can remember the day when pickup trucks everywhere rode the streets with rifles and shotguns displayed, in the back cab window, on gun racks. Remember those days??? Remember hearing of mass shootings in shopping malls and elementary schools in those days??? Didn't think so......

   And even so, the record for the killing of so many in a school setting is still standing from years ago when a man used 3 bombs to kill over 40 at his school in Michigan. So when the desire is there it can be done. Unless of course to stop this threat from a bomb we were to also outlaw the common household material that could be used to make a bomb??? And then of course the fact that the material is outlawed would immediately STOP it from happening.....??? Not so much......

   The coming pile of Federal Regulations upon legal gun owners and firearms will be oppressive in the extreme. Our ability to maintain freedom will shortly be beyond return with a complacent society. And this very complacence has brought us to where we are today. 

FREEDOM CAN'T BE TAKEN FROM THOSE WILLING TO FIGHT TO KEEP IT!!!!

   Keep in mind the great success the banning of certain illegal drugs, like crack and heroine, has been in eliminating OD Deaths in America and the ruining of so many lives...... Haven't heard of it??? Neither have I.....

   How about the incredible success of making drunk driving illegal because of the thousands of lives destroyed by the decision of one individual to IGNORE the law...... Heard of that??? I'm actually quite sure you haven't.  

   Maybe we can BAN syringes and spoons to stop the deaths from illegal drugs??? Sorry insulin users and soup eaters, you'll have to figure out another way......

   Maybe we can BAN cars to stop the deaths from drunk drivers??? Sorry everybody with a 30 minute or more commute, you gotta leave ALOT earlier now......

 Either Stand Up And Defend Freedom When It's Challenged, Or Sit Down And Shut Up When That Freedom Disappears Because You Did Nothing....
